abstract Absorbent articles, such as catamenial tampons, for absorbingnbody fluids are disclosed which include an effective amount ofnan amide composition, either alone or in combination tonsubstantially inhibit the production of exotoxins by Gramnpositive bacteria. The amide compound has general formula (b)nwherein R 7 is an alkyl group having 8 to 18 carbon atoms,ninclusive of the carbonyl carbon, and R 8 and R 9 can be the samenor different, R 8 and R 9 are selected from hydrogen, an alkylngroup having 1 to about 12 carbon atoms and may contain one ornmore substituent groups selected from ester, ether, amine,nhydroxyl, carboxyl, carboxyl salts, sulfonate, sulfonate saltsnand combinations thereof. A method of inhibiting the productionnof exoprotein from Gram positive bacteria is also disclosed.
