A method for manufacturing a cathode comprises thensteps of: a process for applying onto a substrate a fluidnmixture comprising polymers or precursors to the polymers, nfine particles of electroconductive material or organicnmetal compound, and solvent; a process for removing thensolvent by heating the fluid mixture applied on thensubstrate, thereby obtaining an electroconductive organicnfilm comprising the polymers and the electroconductivenmaterial; and a process for forming a gap at a portion ofnthe electroconductive organic film by applying an electricalncurrent thereto. Accordingly, a simple method fornmanufacturing cathodes, electron sources, and image formingnapparatuses with excellent electron emitting properties cannbe realized. |
