abstract | There are provided;n (i) a solid catalyst component obtained by contacting antrivalent titanium atom-containing solid catalyst componentnprecursor(C) with a halogeno compound (A) of the 13( a) or 14( na) group of elements in the periodic table of the elements andnan electron donor(B), or a solid catalyst component obtainednby contacting an intermediate product with a titanium-halogennbond-carrying compound(D), the intermediate product beingnobtained by contacting the solid catalyst componentnprecursor (C) with a halogeno compound (A') of the 14( a) groupnof elements in the periodic table of the elements and thenelectron donor(B), or a solid catalyst component comprisingna magnesium atom, a titanium atom, a halogen atom and an electronndonor and having a relative surface area of not more than 30nm 2 /g, the catalyst component being superior in a particle form, (ii) a catalyst comprising the solid catalyst componentnand an organoaluminum compound, the catalyst being high innpolymerization activity, so that there is no need to removena catalyst residue from a polymer obtained after thenpolymerization, and (iii) a process for producing an olefin polymer usingnthe catalyst, the polymer produced being superior in powdernproperties and low in a content of lower molecular weightncomponents. |
