abstract |
The present invention provides a method for producing sizednceramic fibers, such as silicon carbide and siliconnoxycarbide, by coating with an acrylate-based non-aqueous sizingncomposition. The fibers may also be coated withninterfacial coatings. Some interfacial coatings arenmoisture-reactive. The sizing protects thenfiber and interfacial coatings from moisture and mechanicalndamage during winding and weaving. The sizing cannsubsequently be removed in an inert environment at lowntemperature. |
