abstract |
In an EL device (10) in which a blue light emittingnmaterial obtained by doping Ce as a luminescent center intonCaGa X S Y host material is used for a luminescent layer (5),nvalues of X and Y in the CaGa X S Y host material are set in rangesnof 1.4≦X≦1.9, 2.9≦Y≦3.8. The blue light emitting materialnthus obtained has a new structure defined by the fact that annX-ray diffraction spectrum obtained by using Cu Kα radiationnas a X-ray source has at least one peak in diffraction anglesnof 13.5±0.2 degree, 14.6±0.2 degree and 25.7±0.2 degree. Thenblue light emitting EL device (10) has a luminance higher thannthat of a conventional EL device. |
