abstract This invention relates to a flue gas desulfurizer (7) having an absorption tower (21) for bringing untreated flue gas into gas-liquid contact with an absorbent slurry, wherein there is provided heat recovery means (12) for recovering heat from the flue gas passing through the flue gas inlet section (21a) of the absorption tower prior to gas-liquid contact, and to a boiler equipment including such a flue gas desulfurizer (7), heat transport means (13), and heat releasing the recovered heat to heat utilization equipment (11). This invention also relates to thermal electric power generation equipment including extraction feedwater heaters (121-128) for heating boiler feedwater with steam from steam turbines (103, 106, 108, 109), a flue gas desulfurizer (7) using an absorbent slurry, and means for recovering heat (161) from the flue gas passing through the flue gas desulfurizer and/or the absorbent slurry within the flue gas desulfurizer, whereby boiler feedwater is preheated by the recovered heat and then introduced into the extraction feedwater heaters.
