The invention relates to a process for the silylation of very finely divided inorganic oxides, the very finely divided inorganic oxides being treated with at least one silylating agent which is not very volatile in the temperature range of the entire process, with the proviso that the non-volatile silylating agent is used to liquidate the very finely divided inorganic oxides in the form of a finely atomized aerosol is added.
