abstract The invention relates to a signal peptide of formula: MXKSTLLLLFLLLCLPSWNAGA or A = Alanine C = Cysteine F = Phenylalanine G = glycine K = Lysine L = Leucine M = Methionine N = Asparagine P = Proline S = Serine T = Threonine W = Tryptophan and X represents a direct bond between M and K, an amino acid chosen from the set of 20 amino acids, of the genetic code or a peptide comprising 2, 3 or 4 amino acids each chosen independently of one another in l of the 20 amino acids in the genetic code.n n n It also relates to the DNA sequences coding for the latter, the expression vectors carrying one of these sequences, the gram-negative bacteria transformed by these vectors and the process for the periplasmic production of a polypeptide.n n n Application : Manufacture of polypeptides, such as hGH or hirudin.
