The invention relates to a method and means for differentiating and quantifying leukocytes in whole blood using flow cytometry by measuring cell volume, scattered light and fluorescence. The method is characterized in that the whole blood is treated with an agent that lyses the erythrocytes and fixes the leukocytes, mixed with a mixture of at least two fluorescent dyes from the thiazole and aminoxanthene group, excites the colored cells with a wavelength and the relative intensities of the fluorescence emission measures at least two different wavelength ranges simultaneously and determines the forward and wide-angle scattered light. |
