abstract A coating liquor comprising a colloidal dispersion of hydroxyapatite and an improved method for forming a hydroxyapatite coating film on a surface of a substrate which comprises coating the coating liquor onto the said surface, followed by drying the coated substrate and then subjecting it to insolubilization, i.e. treatment with an insolubilizing agent or calcination. The coating substrate of this invention has an excellent strength and adhesion and is useful in a variety of fields, particularly as an implant material, adsorbing and separating agent and catalyst.
