titleOfInvention | Process for the production of methanol and catalyst composition for said process |
abstract | A process for the production of methanol comprising contacting a gaseous mixture comprising carbon monoxide and hydrogen with a catalytic system, obtainable by combination of:n component (a) - a substantially dry nickel salt derived from a carboxylic acid, containing 2-20 carbon atoms, and more preferably 2-10 carbon atoms, and component (b) - an alcoholate derived from an alkali metal or from an alkaline earth metal, and the catalytic system to be used in this process.n Preferably as nickel salt, nickel acetate and nickel propionate is used and as alcoholate potassium tert.butylate is used, while the molar ratio between the nickel salt and the alcoholate is in the range of from 1:1-1:20. |
