Common isotonic fat emulsions containing essential ω-3 fatty acids e.g. Contained in the form of EPA, can only be insufficiently converted to triple unsaturated eicosanoids in vivo, since they are preferably consumed in the body in the energy metabolism, ie they are oxidized.n n n By combining ω-3 fatty acids or their physiologically acceptable esters with medium-chain triglycerides, the medium-chain triglycerides are preferably oxidized in the organism and the ω-3 fatty acids are protected from rapid oxidation, so that they are increasingly available for the formation of tri-unsaturated eicosanoids stand. The combination also has a liver-protective effect.n n n Isotonic ω-3 fatty acid-containing fat emulsions, especially for parenteral application in post-aggression metabolism in chronic inflammatory diseases as well as in neonatology and pediatrics. |
