The subject of the invention is a process for the preparation of colloidal dispersions of ceric dioxide in an alcoholic medium, characterized in that it consists in mixing = (a) ceric dioxide comprising ammonium nitrate and a member chosen from the group formed with water, methanol, acetic acid and their mixtures, (b) a hydroxyphenylcarboxylic acid having from about 7 to about 20 carbon atoms and (c) an alcohol optionally carrying an ether or ketone group, then to remove water, methanol, acetic acid released during heating and separate the undissolved solid particles.n n n The invention provides alcohol-dispersible associative complexes comprising ceric dioxide and a hydroxyphenylcarboxylic acid having from about 7 to about 20 carbon atoms in the organic acid / CeO₂ molar ratio of at least 1/6. |
