abstract A storage container for effectively containing hydrocarbon fuels over a broad temperature range without significant loss of hydrocarbon fuel vapors, the container having a fluid impermeable housing and a seal disposed between opposed mating surfaces secured together, said seal being a solid elastomer of a cured liquid polymer composition which contains from 90 mole percent to 25 mole percent of a thioether mercaptan terminated disulfide polymer of the formula HS(RSS) m RʹSH wherein R is -C₂H₄-O-CH₂-O-C₂H₄-, Rʹ is an alkyl thioether of from 4 to 20 carbon atoms and the value of m is such that the thioether mercaptan terminated disulfide polymer has a molecular weight of between about 1000 to about 4000. Methods of utilizing the polymer composition to seal hydrocarbon fuel storage structures are also disclosed.
