A method for producing an olefin polymer, which comprises polymerizing or copolymerizing an olefin in the presence of a catalyst comprising (a) a titanium-containing solid catalyst component and (b) an organic metal compound of a metal of Groups I-III of the Periodic Table, said solid catalyst component (a) being obtained by treating (A) a magnesium compound of the formula Mg(OR 1 ) n (OR 2 ) 2-n wherein each of R' and R 2 is an alkyl group, an aryl group or an aralkyl group, and n is 2≧n≧0, with three compounds i.e. (B) an electron donative compound, (C) a silicon compound of the formula Si(OR 3 ) 4 wherein R 3 is an lkyl group, an aryl group or an aralkyl group and (D) a titanium compound. |
