Continuously separating the prepolymer and steam, rectifying the vapors and returning the diamines carried along, leading the prepolymers into a polycondensation zone and condensing them under an overpressure of 1 to 10 bar at a temperature of 250 to 300 ° C., the aqueous salt solution being under an overpressure of 1 heated up to 10 bar within a dwell time of at most 60 seconds, with the proviso that when leaving the evaporator zone the degree of conversion is at least 93% and the water content of the prepolymer is at most 7% by weight.
