abstract 2-Acylaminomethyl-5-phenyl-1H-2,3-dihydro-1,4-benzodiazepines of the formula I <IMAGE> whose acyl group COR3 represents a benzoyl or phenylalkanoyl group which is optionally mono- or disubstituted in the phenyl ring, and in which R1 is lower alkyl or Alkenyl or cyclopropylmethyl and R2 are H or lower alkyl or alkenyl, R6 is hydrogen, halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, hydroxy, lower alkylthio, nitro, trifluoromethyl, cyano, amino, lower mono- or dialkylamino, lower monoalkanoylamino, lower N-alkyl -N-alkanoylamino or lower alkanoyloxy and R7 are hydrogen, halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, hydroxy or lower alkanoyloxy, or R6 and R7 are bonded to adjacent carbon atoms and together are methylenedioxy or ethylenedioxy, R8 and R9 are those given for R6 and R7 May have meanings are produced. The compounds have analgesic properties.
