titleOfInvention | Production of calcium-sulfate hemihydrate using waste heat, diluted sulfuric acid and sulfuric salts |
abstract | Alpha gypsum hemihydrate is an important building material, which is obtained in particular by calcining the calcium sulfate dihydrate, which is obtained in the flue gas desulfurization of power plants or in the chemical sector, for example in the production of phosphoric acid. A particularly advantageous calcination process consists in first preparing a dispersion of calcium sulfate dihydrate and aqueous, sulfuric acid solution in the presence of sulfuric acid salts and then heating it to a predetermined heating rate of about 373 K with industrial, dust-free heat, followed by the solid components are separated from the aqueous sulfuric acid and dried. In this process, the combination of an aqueous, sulfuric acid solution and sulfuric acid salts results in an alpha hemihydrate practically without the presence of anhydrite II, which considerably facilitates its processing. In addition to the negligible proportion of anhydrite II, the alpha gypsum hemihydrate product is characterized by a high degree of fineness and no efflorescence when magnesium oxide is added. |
