titleOfInvention | Method of producing high purity darylcarbonate |
abstract | It is an object of the present invention to provide a particular industrially applicable process that enables the production of high purity diaryl carbonate having a low content of intermediate boiling point and high boiling point impurities, which is necessary to obtain high quality and high performance polycarbonate, stably over a long period of time using as a starting material, a reaction mixture containing an alkyl aryl carbonate obtained by a transesterification reaction between a dialkyl carbonate and an aromatic monohydroxy compound. There have been various proposals for methods of producing reaction mixtures containing aromatic carbonates using reactive distillation. The inventors of the present invention have carried out research with the aim of discovering a specific method that makes it possible to use a high purity diaryl carbonate obtained from such a reaction mixture continuously and stably over a long period of time as a raw material for high quality and high performance polycarbonate. As a result, the present inventors arrived at the present invention after discovering that the above object can be achieved by a method in which distillation separation is carried out using three distillation columns in the indicated sequence. Moreover, the present inventors have found that a reactive distillation column and three distillation columns are particularly preferred, each of which has a specific structure and operates at |
