abstract | An adhesive compsn. for surfaces moistened with a liquid comprises hydroxypropyl-methylcellulose (HPMC) and at least one additional component which modifies swelling. Also claimed is a method for determining the adhesion time of adhesive compsns. for surfaces moistened with a liquid, comprising: a) applying the compsn. to a test surface in a device; b) introducing the device into a releasing apparatus contg. an appropriate acceptor medium; c) removing the compsn. from the test surface by applying hydrodynamic and/or kinematic forces; and d) registering this removal on a time basis. A device for determining the adhesion time of adhesive compsns. for surfaces moistened with a liquid is also claimed, and comprises: i) a housing (1); ii) a base-plate (2) inserted in the housing; and iii) an internal ring (3) which does not come up to the top of the housing. Pref. the component which modifies swelling is conveniently a substance which is difficultly soluble at least in aq. media and which retards solvent uptake by HPMC, esp. crosslinked polyvinyl pyrrolidone, or TiO2, talc or SiO2. |
