abstract |
A polycarbonate compsn. with improved hydrolytic stability contains a stabilising amt. of a bis-epoxy ether of formula (I) (where R is alkylene esp. butylene; R1 and R2 are alkylene esp. methylene; R3-R8 are alkyl or esp. H and n and m are 0 or 1 esp. 1). Also claimed is a polycarbonate compsn. contg. (I) and an organophosphite colour stabiliser. The polycarbonates are transparent and colourless and are resistant to becoming opaque and brittle when exposed to elevated temps. and moisture. The compsn. can be for containers eg. bottles and baby bottles which can be sterilised. |
