abstract Imidazol 4,5-h isoquinoline-4,6-dione derivs. of formula (I) and their acid-addn. salts are new. In (I) R1 is lower alkyl, phenylalkyl, 3-6C cycloalkyl, or phenyl opt. mono- or disubstd. by halogen, OH, MeO, MeS, MeSO, MeSO2 and/or benzyloxy; A is H or (CH2)nNR2R3; R2 is H or lower alkyl and R3 is lower alkyl and R3 is lower alkyl opt. substd. by dimethoxyphenyl, or NR2R3 is piperidino, morpholino or 4-alkyl-1-piperazinyl; n=2 or 3. (I; A=H) are cardiotonic agents, hypotensives and blood platelet aggregation inhibitors; (I; A=(CH2)nNR2R3) are antiarrhythmic agents. In an example a typical cpd. (I; A=H, R1=Ph) is prepd. from 4,4-dimethyl-7-acetamido-2H,4H-isoquinoline-1,3-dione.
