(Iso)quinolylozy carboxylic acid derivs. of formula R6R7A-O-CR4R5-CO-X (I) and their salts with (in)organic acids are new. In the formula (I), X is NR1R2 or OR3; R1 and R2 are each H, alkenyl, alkynyl or (alkoxy)alkyl, or NR1R2 is a heterocyclic residue opt. contg. an additional O or S atom in the ring; R3 is H, alkyl, an alkali (ne earth) metal ion or an ammonium ion; R4 and R5 are halogen or lower alkyl, and R4 can also be H; A is a quinoline or isoquinoline residue substd. on the N-atom; R6 and R7 are H, halogen, NO2 or CH3; R5 can additionally be H when X is OR3. (I) are herbicides with a total or selective effect, depending on the rate of application. They are active against mono- and dicotyldedonous weeds, and may be applied pre- or post-emergence. The rate of application is generally 0.1-15 (pref. 0.2-6) kg/ha. A specific (I) is N, N-diethyl-2-(8-quinolyloxy)-propionamide. |
