The invention relates to a process for producing a binder BM for coating agents consisting of (A) 1 to 99.9 wt.% of an epoxy resin and (B) 0.1 to 99 wt.% of a copolymer of vinyl acetate and at least one other component selected from the group comprising vinyl alcohol, alkyl vinyl acetal and ethylene, in which the component (A) and (B) of the binder BM are intensively mixed in a solvent and/or the melt, preferably in the presence of epoxy ring-opening catalysts, before incorporation in the coating agent. The invention also relates to the use of the binder BM of the invention as a component of electrophoretic paints and the use of such electrophoretic paints for coating electrically conductive substrates and for producing multi-coat painted structures. |
