titleOfInvention | Process for the preparation of carotenoids by submerged fermentation with mixed cultures of (+) and (-) strains of the fungus Blakeslea trispora |
abstract | A process for the preparation of a carotenoid selected from β-carotene or lycopene by submerged fermentation with mixed cultures of (+) and (-) - strains of the fungus Blakeslea trispora and recovery of the carotenoid from the obtained biomass, characterized in that first the (-) - and the (+) strain is pre-cultured separately until fully morphologic, then the (-) strain is inoculated into the bioreactor, and during the exponential growth of the (-) strain, the (+) strain is inoculated into the (-) strain in the volume ratio 1: 5 to 1: 100 is added to induce the carotenoid formation and both strains are fermented together without pH regulation and without regulation of the oxygen partial pressure at 18 to 24 ° C until the end of carotenoid formation. |
