abstract A method for calculating color recipes for pigmented hues adapted to a target color, comprising the steps i) Establishing an effect matrix by means of suitable calibration scales for the components contained in a coloring system, ii) determining the optical material parameters of the target shade, iii) selection of a suitable starting formulation, iv) Determination of the color difference between the initial formulation and the target color, v) Calculation of an adapted color recipe taking into account the effect matrix, vi) repetition of steps iv) and v) until an acceptable residual color difference is reached, with the repetition of step iv) the adjusted color recipe of the previously carried out step v) replaces the initial recipe, characterized in that the effect matrix is in the running process is constantly updated with information relevant to the hue, the information relevant to hue being information which includes changes in hue caused by respective changes in quantity in the ongoing process, and the effect matrix with the information relevant to the color shade is expanded by parameters that are obtained in the ongoing process by measuring changes in color shade depending on different quantities.
