The essence of the solution is a photoreactive derivative of hyaluronic acid (formula I) and a process for its preparation, whereby firstly a hyaluronic acid derivative in the form of an aldehyde at position 6 of the glucosamine cycle is prepared, which subsequently reacts with an amine bearing a pyridone skeleton (photoreactive particle), e.g. -aminoethyl) pyridin-2 (1H) -one, in the presence of a reducing agent to form a photoreactive derivative. The prepared photoreactive derivative can then be photochemically crosslinked via [4 + 4] photocycloaddition reactions. The invention further relates to a 3D cross-linked hyaluronic acid derivative (Formula II) which exhibits enhanced hydrolytic stability and improved sorption properties, with the possibility of further designing their physical properties according to the requirements of the final applications, as well as its use in tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, medical devices, or cosmetics. |
