The present invention relates to porous ceramic articles and methods for their manufacture. Porous ceramic articles have sinter-bonded or reaction-bonded pre-reacted macroparticles and a microstructure that exhibits a pore-like network structure of macropore necks. Methods of making porous ceramic articles involve the use of pre-reacted particles having one or more phases. Also disclosed are plastic ceramic precursor compositions. The composition includes a mixture of at least one of dense spherical-like pre-reaction particles, porous spherical-like pre-reaction particles, or hollow spherical-like pre-reaction particles and a liquid carrier. |
