abstract The purpose of the present invention is to provide a binder for an electrode of an electric storage device, which, when used as a binder for an electrode of an electric storage device, has excellent adhesion, can improve the flexibility of the resulting electrode, and has high durability against an electrolyte. It is another object of the present invention to provide a binder for an electrode of an electric storage device, which can maintain good adhesion between active materials during long-term cycles, and which can produce a high-capacity battery having a small irreversible capacity and a small resistance, and excellent output characteristics. Further, another object of the present invention is to provide a composition for an electric storage device electrode, and an electric storage device, each using the binder for an electric storage device electrode. The binder for an electrode of an electric storage device of the present invention is a binder for use in an electrode of an electric storage device, and the binder contains a polyvinyl acetal resin having a hydroxyl group-containing constituent unit represented by the following formula (1), wherein the proportion of the hydroxyl group-containing constituent unit having a chain length of 1 is 25% by weight or less with respect to the total of the hydroxyl group-containing constituent units, and the amount of the hydroxyl group is 30 to 60 mol%.
