The present invention provides a photoelectric element which includes an electron-transporting layer that shows excellent electron-transporting properties and has a sufficiently enlarged reaction interface, and which hence has a high photoelectric conversion efficiency. This photoelectric element (1) comprises a first electrode (2), an electron-transporting layer (3) that contains a photosensitizer supported thereon, a hole-transporting layer (4), and a second electrode (5), these components having been superposed in this order. The electron-transporting layer (3) is constituted of an organic compound yielded by the electrolytic polymerization of a precursor having, per molecule, two or more moieties having a structure represented by structural formula (1). The photoelectric element (1) is equipped with a gel layer (6) configured of the organic compound and an electrolyte solution infiltrated into the organic compound. (M in structural formula (1) is cyano, fluoro, chloro, or bromo, and A- is a counter anion.) |
