abstract |
An article having a silver layer and a resin composition for a coating covering silver, which are used for a light reflecting member or the like in a reflector within a copier, a luminaire used indoors or outdoors, a head lamp of an automobile or the like. The article having a silver layer is characterized in that a first cured coating layer (A) is formed between a substrate and a silver layer (B), which comprises a resin having corrosion-proofing properties for silver and being capable of contacting intimately with both the substrate and silver and a second cured coating layer (C) is formed on the silver layer, which comprises one or more resins selected from the group consisting of a silicone acryl resin (c1), a silicone alkyd resin (c2) and a specific polyfunctional crosslinked silicone resin (c3). The article having a silver layer has excellent resistance to discoloration (corrosion) of the silver layer. The resin composition for a coating covering silver has excellent resistance to corrosion and is free from yellowing upon exposure to an elevated temperature of about 200 °C, which results in imparting excellent discoloration (corrosion) resistance to silver, since it contains a specific polyfunctional crosslinked silicone resin (c3) having a main chain comprised of siloxane bondings. |
