titleOfInvention | Diagnostic method for decreased male fertility |
abstract | The present invention provides a method of identifying a sperm cell with decreased fertility potential, comprising determining the amount of platelet activating factor receptor (PAFR) produced by the sperm cell, whereby a sperm cell producing a decreased amount of PAFR, as compared with the amount of PAFR produced by a sperm cell known to have normal fertility potential is identified as a sperm cell with decreased fertility potential. Also provided is a method of identifying a sperm cell with decreased fertility potential comprising determining the pattern of distribution of PAFRs on the surface of the sperm cell, whereby a sperm cell with an abnormal pattern of distribution of PAFRs on the cell surface, as compared with the pattern of distribution of PAFRs on the cell surface of a sperm cell known to have normal fertility potential is identified as a sperm cell with decreased fertility potential. |
