A biaxially oriented polyester film for fabrication in lamination with a metal plate, which exhibits excellent processability in fabrication operations for making a can such as a draw forming in lamination with a metal plate, and can be used for making a metallic can, such as a can for a food or a drink, which is excellent in resistance to heat and retort treatment, maintaining taste and fragrance, impact resistance, rust prevention, and the like. This polyester film comprises porous particles having an average particle diameter of 0.1 to 2.5 νm, a pore volume of 0.05 to 2.5 ml/g, a specific surface area of 50 to 600 m2/g and a compression strength of 1 to 100 Mpa, and is prepared using a copolyester having a glass transition temperature of 70 °C or higher and lower than 78 °C, a melting point of 210 to 250 °C and an intrinsic viscosity of 0.50 to 0.80 dl/g. |
