abstract |
A process to control the polymer density in slurry ethylene polymerization processes comprising precontacting a catalyst system and cocatalyst for a time sufficient to reduce polymer density is provided. The catalyst system comprises chromium supported on a silica-titania support wherein the support comprises from about 2 to about 20 weight percent titanium, based on the weight of the support, and wherein the catalyst system has been activated in an oxygen-containing ambient and subsequently reduced in the presence of carbon monoxide. The cocatalyst is a trialkyl boron compound. |
