titleOfInvention Floor mat system
abstract The disposable floor mat system comprises a disposable pad (30) having a plurality of layers, and means for retaining the disposable pad (30) either upon the upper surface of a permanent base (20) or directly onto the floor. The permanent base (20) is positioned upon the floor and includes a slightly forward slope toward the broader edge. The disposable pad (30) includes a layer of absorbent material (35), and a coating layer (38) of waterproof material. The disposable floor mat is useful for keeping the floor dry and in a sanitary condition. The under-surface of the disposable pad (30) includes two bores for cooperative engagement with two projections extending upwardly and affixed to the floor. The absorbent pad (30) is biodegradable so that disposal of large quantities of the pads will not be a hazard to the environment, nonflammable or flame retardant so that someone dropping an ash onto the mat will not create a fire hazard, and treated with chemicals to kill bacteria, mold, viruses and fungi.
