abstract The invention relates to a method for producing phenols, aldehydes, esters and/or ketones with the utilization of lignin and/or lignin sulphonic acid in which the starting materials containing lignin or the lignin sulphonic acid are heated. The desired substance is evaporated from said starting materials, while acceptable products are produced from the solid components of the starting materials by means of heat action. In addition, the originated boundary conditions which stimulate the desired substance are adhered to. Said boundary conditions are abnormal but innocuous for producing the acceptable products from the solid components of the starting materials.
