titleOfInvention | Method of checking unevenness of light-transmitting substance, apparatus therefor, and method of sorting transparent substrates |
abstract | A laser beam L from a laser (2) is made to enter a transparent substrate (1) through an incidence surface thereof by using mirrors (31, 32). The laser beam entered the transparent substrate (1) is totally and repetitively reflected by the surfaces (major surfaces and edge surfaces) of the transparent substrate (1), and is nearly confined in the substrate (1). When the transparent substrate (1) has uneven portions such as scars on the surface thereof, the total reflection conditions are not satisfied, and light leaks through the uneven portions. The leaking light is converged in a lens system (7) onto a CCD (6) and is processed with an image processor (12). The image is such that uneven portions such as scars appear as bright lines or spots on a dark background, enabling uneven portions such as very fine scars to be detected. |
