abstract |
A method of inhibiting proliferation of immortal cells or cells that express telomerase is disclosed. The method includes introduction of synthetic oligonucleotides which comprise telomere mimetic sequences. Applicant has identified specific oligonucleotides and characteristics which must be present for such oligonucleotides to increase cellular uptake and to maximize inhibition of proliferation as well as cytotoxicity. |
