abstract An expansion composition (53) is provided for use in an electric thermostatic control valve apparatus (10). The expansion composition (53) includes about 52 to about 58 weight percent of an electrical isolator and electrical conductor particles with an average particle size of about 80 to about 1500 mesh dispersed throughout the electrical isolator. The electrical isolator fluctuates in volumetric size between a pre-determined normal operating volume and a pre-determined expanded volume as a function of the temperature of the expansion composition. The electrical conductor particles conduct electrical current through the electrical isolator when the electrical isolator has a volumetric size that is less than the pre-determined expanded volume.
