abstract A direct and/or alternating voltage is applied to a nonconductive fluid containing a boron trifluoride complex at least partly dispersed and/or dissolved therein to thereby precipitate the boron trifluoride complex, and the precipitate is separated from the nonconductive fluid. Thus, the complex can be recovered without changing the molar coordination ratio in the complex. By utilizing this method for olefin oligomer production in which a boron trifluoride complex catalyst is used, the recovered catalyst can be reused as it is for the reaction.
