An oral composition comprises at least one physiologically acceptable, easily soluble zinc salt of an inorganic or organic acid and at least one taste-masking salt selected among sodium chloride, ammonium chloride and physiologically acceptable alkali metal, alkaline earth metal and/or ammonium carbonates. The composition is suitable for use in dental care and oral hygiene including prevention and control of mouth odour, plaque and/or calculus. The oral composition is advantageously in form of lozenges, pastilles or chewing gum. The use of the taste-masking salt in the zinc-containing oral composition ensures an efficient reduction of the astringent taste of the zinc ions. |
