A rubber composition comprising 100 parts by weight of at least one rubber and 3 to 50 parts by weight of particles, having an average particle diameter of 20 to 1000 νm, of a polyvinyl alcohol resin containing oxyalkylene groups represented by general formula (I), wherein R?1 and R2¿ represent each a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; X represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkyl ester group, an alkylamide group, or a group of a salt of sulfonic acid; and n is to 1 to 300 or short fibers thereof having an average length of 10 to 5000 νm and an aspect ratio (fiber length to diameter ratio) of 10 to 1000. |
