abstract |
A method of improving the clinical outcome of subjects undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass surgery, by peri-operatively or intra-operatively administering a therapeutically effective amount of an intravenous beta adrenergic antagonist, to inhibit tissue damage from ischemia. In a disclosed embodiment, the beta adrenergic antagonist is propranolol in a dose of at least 0.1 mg/kg. |
