Process for the simultaneous preparation of acrylonitrile and acrylic acid |
abstract |
A process for the simultaneous preparation of acrylonitrile and acrylic acid in the process for the preparation of the nitrile or the acid by gas-phase catalytic oxidation of propane with ammonia and oxygen in the presence of a metal oxide catalyst containing as the essential components vanadium and at least one element selected among tellurium, antimony and molybdenum, characterized by regulating both the molar ratio of propane to ammonia and that of oxygen to ammonia each within the range of 2 to 10. Conducting the ammoxidation of propane at the selected molar ratios of propane to ammonia and oxygen to ammonia enables the simultaneous preparation of acrylonitrile and acrylic acid at a high total selectivity and in a high total yield. Further, the catalytic activity can be retained for a long period, so that the ammoxidation can be conducted efficiently and stably for a long period. |
