Method and apparatus for detecting bacteria |
abstract |
A method for detecting bacteria which enables detection and judgement of specific bacterias and is simple in operation, shortened in measurement time, improved in efficiency, and excellent in detection accuracy by labelling bacteria per se in a simple and specific manner without resort to color tone changes caused by the metabolism of fermentation substrate. A bacteriophage with the nucleic acid being labelled with a fluorescent substance is subjected to bacterial contact with a host cell to judge whether specific bacterias are present or absent by utilizing the fact that there is a significant difference between the fluorescence intensity of fluorescence-labelled nucleic acid present in the phage and the fluorescence intensity is such a state that the fluorescence-labelled nucleic acid is introduced into the bacteria. |
