abstract | A purified bicyclic depsipeptide, vitilevuamide (1), from the ascidians Didemnum cuculliferum and Polysyncraton lithostrotum is disclosed. Vitilevuamide has antitumor activity as demonstrated by standard in vitro and in vivo assays. An anticancer composition is also disclosed, comprising an effective amount of vitilevuamide and an inert carrier.
