abstract |
A thermal transfer ink ribbon which has a good capability of thermal ink transfer onto a label having a low chemical polarity, such as one made of a polyolefin, and a matte label having a rough surface and, even when used with an end head printer, can yield high-quality images having excellent stain and solvent resistances. This ink ribbon comprises a substrate and an ink layer provided on one surface of the substrate and comprising a colorant and a binder containing a vinyl chloride resin. The vinyl chloride resin has at least either an epoxy group or a group of a salt of a strong acid on the backbone or the side chain. An intermediate layer which causes cohesive failure during thermal transfer is provided between the substrate and the ink layer. |
