abstract | A device for preventing derailment of the bicycle chain of a bicycle. Upper and lower guide members (54, 56) are positioned strategic to a drive sprocket (12) of the bicycle to guide and maintain the chain (16) in engagement with the drive sprocket (12) regardless of the tension of the chain (16). The upper and lower guides (54, 56) force the chain (16) to be engaged a longer circumferential distance on the drive sprocket (12) to prevent the chain (16) from jumping off the drive sprocket (12). Circular guards (G) are mounted on each side of the drive sprocket (12) to protect the drive sprocket (12) and the chain (16) entrained thereon from impact. The spacing of the circular guards (G) provides a channel for receiving the chain (16) as it traverses the drive sprocket (12). |
