abstract A device for treating a liquid medium is disclosed. The device includes a compartment (2) communicating with the vessel (6) for the liquid medium to be treated and comprising a transmitter (1) for transmitting high-frequency ultrasound (4) into the compartment (2), and a generator (3) for generating microbubbles (5) with an average diameter of less than 1 mm, said transmitter and said generator being arranged in such a way that the microbubbles (5) are relased into the field of the ultrasound (4) transmitted into the compartment (2). The use of said device for removing undifferentiated cells or microorganisms such as algae, bacteria, viruses, etc., and/or supersaturating said liquid medium with salts, is also disclosed.
