Chiral organoboranes of general formulae (I) and (II), wherein each of R1 and R2, which are the same or different, is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl or cycloalkyl radical, or R1 and R2, taken together, are a saturated divalent hydrocarbon grouping; X1 is a hydrogen atom; and X2 is a hydrogen or halogen atom; are disclosed. Methods for preparing such compounds, and the use thereof, particularly as an asymmetrical reducing agent, are also disclosed. |
